If you have printed your invitations you will save some time on the writing. You will only need to write the names of your guests, and of course addresses, on the envelopes. It is not a good idea to use printed labels for this as it always seems very impersonal. If your handwriting is truly terrible, try enlisting the help of a friend or family member. Then choose pretty stamps for the finishing touch. Your invitations should be mailed at least two months before the wedding. Even if you sent a 'save the date' notice, you will want to be receiving the replies as early as possible so that you know numbers for catering.
Although it is traditional to include an RSVP card, you can save postage costs by making this a postcard, leave people to provide their own stamp, or even forget the whole RSVP card idea and include an email address for RSVP (maybe with your postal address too in case some guests do not have email). If you do not receive a reply you will have to call people but you would need to do this anyway. There are always some people who do not return the card.
There is no need to cut back on style and quality when you are planning a budget wedding. Put in a little time and effort, and you will find it is not difficult to create gorgeous and elegant cheap wedding invitations.
